We just got back from the most magical trip to Disney and I want to get the trip report done before I forget all of the fun details. So Day 1...here we go.
Our plane left super early from Memphis. We had to be at the airport at 5:30 am...yikes! We waited until the last possible moment to wake Sally and get her dressed. She was so excited to see her cute little travel outfit. See all of the details on that here.
She did great on the plane and the bag that I packed for her combined with peanuts and pretzels on the airplane worked like a charm. See all the details of the bag here.
We stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort. This was our first time at this hotel and although it was nice, I wasn't impressed with the luggage service. There was no clear direction about what we should do with our luggage after we checked in. The resort is HUGE and I think the idea is that they will walk you to your room with a cart of luggage...but we stood around for a good 10 minutes and no one was telling us what to do, so we just grabbed our bags and walked to our rooms...it was a trek!
As soon as we got there, I had to decorate the window. I used my banner that I got from Lauren Haddox. See the details here.
The room was really nice...very clean and we paid extra to ensure a king bed. We also had them bring a pack-n-play for Sally and she did pretty well in it.
Of course Mousekeeping left us a Mickey towel :)
Sally loved the bed and wanted to climb up and start jumping. I figured it was time for a snack so I busted out the snack box from Two Share Designs. She loved it and went right in for the gummy worms...of course!
I snapped a pic before she totally destroyed it :) It was so nice to have this for her to munch on over the week.
I was anxious to get the bags unpaked. It always makes me feel better to have everything put away and not living out of a suitcase.
After I finished we walked over the bridge, past the playground and pool (which we never actually went to...I know, I know...) and into the food court. We grabbed lunches using quick services credits. Joe got a cuban sandwich and dirt/worms dessert and I got chicken nuggets, fries and a Mickey bar. Sally nibbled from both of our plates.
Here she is trying to steal my Mickey ice cream bar.
We then went back to the room, turned off all the lights and tried to get her to take a nap. She had been up since 5 am!! After about 30 minutes of her bouncing off the walls, we decided a nap just probably wasn't going to happen and we may as well head on to the parks. While she was "napping"....jumping on the bed...I put her "Gifts from Minnie" out with a special note. She was so excited to see presents...especially the Minnie dress. Of course she wanted to put it on.
After a super short wait at the bus stop we boarded the bus and were on our way to the Magic Kingdom. Sally was sooo excited!!

Joe and Sally inside the park
We immediately saw that Marie was doing a meet and greet and the line was short so we jumped right in. Sally LOVES Marie so we had to get an autograph and picture. She was completely star struck!
The park was busier than I was expecting. The last time we were at Disney in September, the park was not busy at all. There was the Halloween party going on this night so people had already started coming in. Of course the castle looked beautiful...but I hate that the crane was in the pics!
Next we saw that the line to meet Tinkerbell was pretty short so we jumped in that line.
We rode Dumbo two times. Sally loves Dumbo so this may have been her favorite ride the whole trip. I think we rode it like 6 times during the trip.
Family selfie...having so much fun!
Make sure to stop and take a pic of your little ones inside the dumbo in between the two Dumbo rides.
At 4:30, we had scheduled Sally to have her first haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop. Its on Main Street and they have a package for $20 that includes a certificate, first haircut, little bag with snips of the hair, and a pair of "my first haircut" Mickey ears. We loved this...such a fun memory for a first haircut....but remember that it does require a reservation.
Sally wasn't nervous at all ;)
All of the stylists were great. They gave the kids fun things to play with, lots of stickers, pixie dust, etc.
We just got a very small trim...never the less, Sally did great...no crying at all!
I love the picture of her looking into the mirror.
After the haircut we rode Pirates of the Caribbean,
looked at the castle,
rode the carousel,
rode the Little Mermaid ride,
saw some ducks,
and then Sally passed out so Joe and I took turns riding Space Mountain.
Then it was dinner time, so we rode the monorail over from the Magic Kingdom to Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. I had heard mixed reviews about this restaurant so I was very curious to try it out. Let me just tell you, we loved it. The buffet had good food, lots of choices and it was always full.
The thing I really liked was that the characters come to you. You literally just make your plate, eat and enjoy yourself and they walk around to each table to take pictures and interact with the kids. Sally loved it! It was so nice to get all these character meet and greets in without waiting in lines at the parks. This place will probably be on our must-do list for each trip from now on. LOVED it!
Enjoy these pictures of Sally with the characters. She was a little shy at first but quickly warmed up to them.

Look at these yummy desserts....I may have saved some of the Reese's Pieces for later :)
After dinner we headed back to the hotel and went to bed early so that we could be ready for our first full day at he Magic Kingdom.
Sounds like the perfect first day! Thanks for all the great tips and pics! Swanky's a doll!
